More than half of the population no longer lives in the countryside but in cities, and in most large cities uncultivated land is rare. The urban alternative is urban farming: fields are enthusiastically cultivated, sown and harvested on balconies, rooftop gardens or small plots on the outskirts. The new Wüsthof knife series, Urban Farmer, expresses this lifestyle. The knives in this series are varied and accompany fresh produce on its journey from growing through harvesting and preparation to eating. Cutting. The right knife for every task. Urban Farmer knives can be used indoors and outdoors: the pruning knife and machete are for growing and harvesting vegetables and herbs. The pruning knife, with its distinctive curved tip, is suitable for harvesting, preparing and peeling fruit and small vegetables. The high-performance machete, combining a serrated and a plain edge, is the optimal tool for harvesting and chopping large vegetables or whole lettuce heads. For preparation there is a bread knife, a slicer, a Santoku and two chef's knives of different sizes. Consumption is followed by the vegetable knife and the four-piece steak knife set.
Weather-resistant, sustainable and durable. The series' knives have impressive unique advantages. The sharp blade is laser-cut from a special high-carbon stainless steel alloy with a hardness of 56 HRC. The knives hold a durable edge, are flexible and easy to re-sharpen. The ergonomic handle, made of heat-treated beechwood, is extremely robust and comfortable. Made from sustainably grown, high-quality beechwood, the uncoated handle is heat-treated for durability and water resistance. The finger guard (bolster) between blade and handle is made of a non-slip, soft-touch special plastic (TPE), which ensures a secure grip and easy handling even in wet conditions.
• Handle - The handle, made of smoked beech, has a natural texture and rewards the user with a smooth feel.
• Non-slip finger guard - Always hold the knife firmly; the non-slip bolster is made of a high-performance special synthetic. It offers a completely secure grip, even with wet hands.
• Serrated edge - Robust serrated-edge knives cut tomatoes beautifully - and the same goes for most vegetables, soft fruit with a hard skin, or bread, rolls and cured sausage.
• Pruning knife - With the characteristic curve at the tip, this unique blade shape is excellent for harvesting, preparing and peeling fruit and smaller vegetables.
