The black-bladed Spyderco Native Lightweight has long been the favourite cutting tool of users of tactical knives. The fifth-generation Native 5 raises the bar further, combining the ultra-light glass-fibre reinforced nylon (FRN) handle, the low-profile black finish and the PlainEdge and aggressive SpyderEdge cutting edges with the advanced engineering solutions of the Native 5 platform. The straight-ground blade of the pocket knife is machined from CPM-S30V powder metallurgy stainless steel and has a durable, non-reflective DLC coating. The SpyderEdge provides exceptional cutting power, especially on fibrous materials. It also has a finger groove on the handle for a forward grip, which allows greater control during detailed cutting tasks. The highly advanced back lock – one of the defining features of the Native 5 design – holds the blade securely in the open position and, together with the Round Hole opening, which also serves as the blade's trademark, allows the knife to be opened and closed one-handed by right- and left-handed users alike. The liner-free, injection-moulded FRN handle has a deep, bi-directional textured pattern for maximum grip security, and includes four sets of stainless steel threaded inserts for attaching the reinforced hourglass-shaped belt clip, for carrying the knife tip up or tip down on either side. Like the blade, the belt clip, screws and all other metal parts are finished in black, making it an ideal cutting tool for environments where freedom from reflection may be important.
