The Spyderco Para Military 2 model was released in 2010, with numerous changes compared with the classic version. The new Bushing Pivot System introduced smoother operation and more consistent manufacturing tolerances. The G-10 handle has been narrowed at the end, improving ergonomics. The handle and blade profile has been slimmed to eliminate hard corners that dig into the pocket when closed. It has a compression lock and a two-hand-friendly, four-way repositionable belt clip that can be carried tip up or tip down, on the left or right side, and sits deep in the pocket. The Para Military 2 has a straight-edged, high-performance CPM-S45VN blade, but the blade tip has been extended and additional surface texturing has been added to both the spine and the thumb groove, and it is coated with non-reflective DLC (Diamond-Like Coating). The screw-fastened handle elements, the pocket clip and the blade have received a black coating to suppress the knife's light-reflecting properties. The general design refinements are not drastic and are barely visible, but everything from the textured G-10 handle to the fully flat black CPM-S45VN blade is sharper and smoother and guarantees performance and user comfort.
