Why change something that works? Because Spyderco follows the principle of C.Q.I. (continuous quality improvement). If we can refine and improve the ergonomics or cutting performance of a proven model, we do so. The 2010 Para Military 2 was modified in several respects compared with the classic version. The G-10 handle is tapered at the end, improving ergonomics. The handle and blade were made thinner, and uncomfortable angles in the closed position were removed. It has a Compression Lock and a four-way clip, which allows it to be carried left or right, tip up or tip down, and it sits deeper in the pocket. We kept the same high-performance CPM-S30V flat-ground blade, but extended the blade tip and added more surface on the spine for the thumb rest and finger groove. The new Bushing Pivot system provides smoother action and more consistent manufacturing tolerances. The larger lanyard hole offers more carrying options.
The overall refinement is not necessarily drastic or even visible to the eye, but from the textured G-10 handle to the full flat-ground CPM-S30V blade everything is sharper, smoother and guarantees performance and user comfort.
