The Spyderco Polestar was designed specifically for budget-conscious knife users and is one of the best value-for-money knives on the market. Inspired by the best-selling Byrd Raven 2 design, it is also a brilliant example of Spyderco's "reverse evolution" of its product family. The Polestar's leaf-shaped blade is made of American-made CTS-BD1N stainless steel and features the Round Hole opening, which also serves as a fully accessible trademark, for fast one-handed opening by right- and left-handed users alike. The combination of full flat grinding (FFG) and the PlainEdge cutting edge gives an exceptional edge geometry, precise usability and low-friction cutting performance. Unlike the Raven 2, its edge runs the full length of the blade and has no index-finger groove. This maximises the usable length of the cutting edge and allows powerful cuts near the base of the blade. The Polestar's light, ergonomic open-back handle has full skeletonised stainless steel liners, which provide outstanding structural strength and form the basis of the robust LinerLock mechanism. For a secure, comfortable grip, the liners are covered with non-slip, textured grey G-10 panels. A strategically placed curved cutout in the front panel makes it easy to release the lock and makes one-handed operation simple and intuitive. The handle also comes with a four-position hourglass-shaped pocket clip with a wide triangular base, offering a choice of carrying tip-up or tip-down on either side of the body. With all the defining qualities of Spyderco knives in a budget-friendly package, the Polestar sets a new benchmark among affordable high-performance knives.
