In 1990 Spyderco shook up the market with two knives, the Delica and the Endura. They were the first one-hand opening pocket knives that almost everyone could afford.
Refinement was continuous, and Spyderco labelled its update and improvement process CQI – Constant Quality Improvement. Over the CQI path of the Endura and the Delica, Spyderco refined the ergonomics, produced finer blade steels and repeatedly fine-tuned performance. These are ongoing evolutionary projects, and the next level is represented by the new Endura 4 and Delica 4. Both models have a screw assembly, making cleaning and adjustment easier.
The glass-fibre-reinforced nylon handle is made with bidirectional texturing for better grip and ergonomics. Inside the handle, the double, skeletonised stainless steel liners make the knife stronger without adding excess weight, and secure all external and internal components, increasing strength and rigidity.
The VG-10 blade has a flat saber grind with a stronger tip and a larger 13 mm opening hole. The spine of the blade has a non-slip thumb ramp. The phosphor bronze washers ensure smooth opening and closing, and the four-position pocket clip allows right- and left-hand carry, tip-up and tip-down.
