The key to sharpening any cutting tool is removing steel from its edge while maintaining a constant angle between blade and stone. The Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpmaker takes the mystery out of this process and lets anyone sharpen a knife effectively after a few minutes of practice. Its durable ABS plastic base has key holes that precisely set the stones' sharpening angles at 30° (15° per side) or 40° (20° per side) for knife sharpening. Simply hold the blade's plane vertically and draw the edge along each stone to sharpen. It's that simple. For serrated blades, use the rounded edges of the stones and hold slightly looser so the stone penetrates the recesses of each serration. The Sharpmaker system contains two pairs of aluminium oxide ceramic stones: a pair of medium-grit (brown) stones for aggressive sharpening and a pair of fine (white) stones for a professional finish. A pair of aluminium safety rods protects your hands during sharpening, and all parts snap into the built-in ABS plastic base and lid for easy storage. Each Sharpmaker comes with a detailed instruction manual and DVD that guides you step by step through sharpening knives, scissors, axes and many other tools.
